Hi - My name is Patrick Michael. I started this thing called Jank Tone after many years of playing around with music and guitar hot-rodding. For most of my adult life I had my own auto, motorcycle repair and metal fabrication business. During my career I have invented and marketed parts for Harleys and tools for Corvettes, plus a host of other projects. My late father, who was a scientist, gave me the creative juices that drive me and continue to flow. THANKS, DAD. I must also thank my late mother for teaching me to have patience.
So, about 20 years ago I had a roommate with a bunch of guitar parts and I asked him if I could play around with them. He agreed and after months and months of study and lots of trial and error, I finally figured it out. Thanks to you, Jack. Anyway, I kept at it and discovered that I really enjoyed doing this cleaner stuff. The funny thing is that I don’t even play guitar. I just play around with them and work on them. I took up the harmonica about 30 years ago and that also inspired my growing interest in guitars. I realized that as I played the harmonica, the bass player was driving my sound. The better I heard the bass, and the more I felt it pounding my chest, the better I would play.
So I soon got tired of working on cars and started spending more time messing around with guitars. I asked my very good friend Jim Wagner, who started WCR Pickups for guitars, why he didn’t make bass guitar pickups. He said he didn’t have the time and suggested that I should make them. So here I go. I found out that I could build some real good pickups for the bass. Thank you Jim.
I have been at this for quite some time now, and so far all the bass players that have purchased Jank Tone pickups have given them 100% approval. Very happy bass players they are. I think you will enjoy playing my pickups, too!! They really do work very well. I hope this encourages you to try my pickups.
Now, because I like to fiddle and create, I hope to introduce more products as I test and develop them. There will be a location in this web site call Projects, so you can see what I’m up to. And if you have any good ideas and would like me to explore them, please tell me about them and I will see what I can do. I still play the harmonica so you will hopefully see some interesting harmonica stuff in the future.
Now that’s enough about me, so go play some music and buy some pickups!
THANK YOU,
PAT MICHAEL
